Subject: SEN1 Meeting next Thursday, Vadim Zaytsev From: Bas Basten To: sen1-list Date: Tue, 16 Aug 2011 16:13:57 +0200 (CEST) Dear all, At Thursday's SEN1 Meeting, Vadim will give the following talk on grammar recovery: Title: "Toward an Engineering Discipline for Grammar Recovery" Abstract: This (relatively) short presentation will report on recent achievements and future insights in automating the process of grammar extraction and recovery. Early grammar recovery projects like VU Browsable Grammars [1] for languages like PLEX, COBOL, Ada and C# have shown that this research area is very promising and its activities can be at least semi-automated. However, later initiatives like SLPS Grammar Zoo [2] of recovering grammars of Java, C, C++, Eiffel, Modula, TESCOL and MediaWiki have uncovered more details and more challenges that need to be overcome in order to develop stable universal automated grammar extractors. This has led to development of a prototype tool called Grammar Hunter that operates with grammar definition dialects and performs stepwise extraction of a grammar that will be ready to be transformed, adapted, corrected, converged, etc. Grammar Hunter will become a part of Grammar Lab of Rascal.
