Subject: PEM Talk Nov 11 by Felienne Hermans: Reverse engineering spreadsheets using two-dimensional parsing From: "H.J.S. Abstract: The use of spreadsheets within companies is very common. Spreadsheets are often used to describe the company's domain, because proper software is lacking or considered too complicated. That means valuable domain concepts are stored in the spreadsheets. From our experience in industry we know this domain information is often disregarded when information about the domain is needed, for instance when new software systems are created or documentation is needed. We propose to extract this information automatically and represent it in semantically annotated models. We do this using pattern matching techniques. In this talk we will present methods to describe and recognize common patterns in spreadsheets. Date: Wednesday November 11 Time: 13.30 hrs Location: CWI, Room L302 (new building) ** Due to construction work the CWI has to be entered through Nikhef, Science Park 105. Hope to see you all there. Best Regards, Bas Basten
