This announcement can be found at BXML: a declarative language for creating rich user interfaces Date: 10.02.05 Time: 10:00 Venue: Z009 Speaker: Jouk Pleiter (Backbase) Title: BXML: a declarative language for creating rich user interfaces Almost all modern applications have a web interface nowadays, and users are expecting more interactive interfaces (think of Google's GMail). Therefore developers experience a growing need for a standards-based approach for creating these rich user interfaces. BXML is targeted at solving this problem: it is a declarative language for developing Rich Internet Applications that run natively inside most modern web browsers. BXML is declarative language for defining rich user interfaces can make creating DHTML user interfaces easier and faster. This presentation explains the benefits of declarative UI languages and covers the relationship to standards such as WHATWG and XForms. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS.
