This week's PEM is about the detection of Code Duplication in Java. This announcement can be found at Clone Detection in Java Date: 8.08.02 Time: 10:00 Venue: M280 Speaker: Patrick Duin Title: Clone Detection in Java Code duplication (clones) is a common phenomenon in software (between 7% and 20% of large software systems consists of duplicated code). Much code is developed by copying existing code, thus introducing clones. These clones increase complexity of software and can be removed from the code. For my master thesis I did some research for the SIG on the subject of clone detection. I developed a tool that detects clones in Java software. For the PEM I would like to present the workings of the tool and the results obtained by the tool. Have a nice day. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~pem _________________________________________________________________
