This announcement can be found at The Eclipse Platform - A Meta-IDE Date: 18.04.02 Time: 13:00 Venue: C.001 Speaker: Tobias Kuipers Title: The Eclipse Platform - A Meta-IDE The Eclipse platform is an environment to create software development environments. (Sounds familiar?). It is an open source initiative, started at Object Technology International. Currently, the eclipse consortium consists of IBM, Borland, RedHat, Suse, Merant, Rational, TogetherSoft, and others. This talk wil discuss the basic architecture of the Eclipse platform. It will describe how you can add tools or plug-ins to the environment. It will also discuss what you do not need to add because it is already there. I will discuss the experiences at the SIG with Eclipse, and I hope to engage the audience in a discussion on the pros and cons of Eclipse versus that other Meta-Environment some of us know and love. Have a nice day. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~jurgenv/pem/index.html _________________________________________________________________
