Martijn Schrage from Utrecht will present his work on Xprez. This is joint work with Johan Jeuring. This announcement can be found with links at XPres: a presentation language for XML Date: 28.06.01 Time: 10:00 Venue: M.279 Speaker: Martijn Schrage Title: XPres: a presentation language for XML Existing presentation or style sheet languages like CSS-2 and XSL either lack expressive power, or are complex in use. Furthermore, none of them have good support for abstraction, which makes the style sheets hard to understand and unnecessary long. The Xprez language is a functional language with a set of primitive combinators for creating presentations. The resulting language is powerful enough to specify a range of document presentations, from mathematical formulas to graphical tree browsers, but simple presentations can still be specified with simple style sheets. The talk will consist of a short overview of existing presentation languages and an introduction to the Xprez language, together with a demonstration of its core features. Have a nice day. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~jurgenv/pem/index.html _________________________________________________________________
