Let's all bundle together and enjoy his talk. ****WARNING: LOCATION IS F 0.09 AT THE UVA**** This announcement can be found with links at Software Systems meaning Software Bundles Date: 22.02.01 Time: 10:00 Venue: F 0.09 [UvA, Kruislaan] Speaker: Merijn de Jonge Title: Software Systems meaning Software Bundles Software reuse is often given as motivation for the development of component based software systems. In practice, software reuse is often hampered because candidates for reuse turn out to be strongly entangled in a larger software system, which makes distribution of such components hard. Moreover, retrieval, configuration, and installation of multiple reusable components is hard, error prone, and time consuming. In this talk we propose the use of "autobundle" for dynamic creation of (user-defined) software bundles from reusable components. Autobundle promotes the development and distribution of reusable components and the development of larger applications as bundles of components. Software bundles benefit from a single, integrated configuration, build, and installation process. Collection of all components is performed by autobundle based on component definition files. The ASF+SDF Meta-Environment and XT are two examples of software systems, which are defined as partly overlapping collections of reusable software components. Have a nice day. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~jurgenv/pem/index.html _________________________________________________________________
