This is joint work with Eelco Visser and Joost Visser (not related). Please take care to show up on Friday, NOT on Thursday. This announcement can be found at Grammar Management Date: 10.11.00 Time: 10:00 Venue: M2.79, CWI Speaker: Merijn de Jonge Title: Grammar Management Grammars form an essential part of language tools. Not only because they are used to derive parsers and pretty-printers from, but also because the grammar determines the shape of the corresponding parse trees and thus makes all parts of a software system that operates on parse-trees dependent on the grammar. Due to this dependence, any change of a grammar, no matter how small, potentially breaks all tools that depend on it. To pacify grammar change and grammar sharing, grammar management is needed. During the last year development and maintenance of a number of grammars is centralized in the Grammar Base. The Grammar Base has become a centralized grammar repository, the grammars of which are bundled and distributed under the GPL license and accessible on the web. In this talk I will discuss grammar management in detail and how it is facilitated by the Grammar Base. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~pem _________________________________________________________________
