I will talk about a book I just read, and think may be of interest to the rest of the group. In two weeks time, Arie van Deursen will talk about a book he has read recently. And (you see where I am going here :-) I invite everyone who comes across books (or other publications) that he finds interesting, to talk about those too. This announcement can be found at Extreme Programming Date: 23.03.00 Time: 10:00 Venue: M2.79, CWI Speaker: Tobias Kuipers Title: Extreme Programming In this talk I will present an abstract and a review of the book Extreme Programming Explained by Kent Beck. More information on this book is availble online at the Addison-Wesley website (See the PEM webpages if you're reading this by email). Since we have recently performed our own experiment with applying some extreme programming principles to the implementation of the Meta-Environment, I will discuss our experiences there and relate those to the book. _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~pem _________________________________________________________________
