Ivan Herman of CWI group INS3 will tell us about the work done in his group on graph visualization. This announcement can be found at Visual clues in graph visualisation Date: 11.02.99 Time: 10:00 Venue: M2.79, CWI Speaker: Ivan Herman (CWI) Title: Visual clues in graph visualisation A fundamental challenge for information visualization applications that use graph visualization techniques for relational data sets is the scale and structural complexity of the data. Beyond the well known and researched problems of graph layout, large-scale data sets call for new approaches to navigation, and the provision of visual cues to support the user's awareness of their context or location within the data set. This presentation gives an overview of some techniques developed in this area by the information visualisation group in INS3.1 _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~pem _________________________________________________________________
