This meeting includes a short introduction by Pieter Olivier, followed by an in-depth discussion of all and any aspects of the new Meta-Environment. See below for reading material. NOTE: As all rooms at CWI are occupied by Artificial Intellects, this meeting is at F0.14 at the UvA. This announcement can be found at An Intersection on the Road to a new ASF+SDF Meta-Environment Date: 19.11.98 Time: 10:00 Venue: F0.14, WINS, UvA Speaker: Pieter Olivier Title: An Intersection on the Road to a new ASF+SDF Meta-Environment Discussion Meeting We have reached an intersection on our way towards a new Meta-Environment. Most components are either completed or nearing completion. It is now time to ask ourselves: "How do we want these components to interact?" "What should a Meta-Environment look like?" "Do we want the new Meta-Environment to behave exactly the same way as the old one?" and so on. This is the first of a number of meetings in which we will discuss the shape of the new Meta-Environment. Please join us, and have your say in the new system. Pieter Olivier will start the session by giving a short introduction into the current state of affairs. We will then engage in a fruitful discussion. In order to gain an insight into the current thoughts about the system, it would be very helpful to read the document Pieter and Mark have written (available at http://adam.wins.uva.nl/~markvdb/design/design.html). And, please remember, if you don't come to this session, you forego your right to complain about lacking features later :-) _________________________________________________________________ The programming environment meetings are a forum for the presentation and discussion of new ideas, ongoing and finished work. A typical meeting addresses a subject in the area of programming environments, program generation, algebraic specification, term rewriting, parsing, etc. A presentation ideally takes between 45 and 90 minutes. Meetings taking longer than 45 minutes are interrupted by a coffeebreak. Most Thursdays, a meeting is held which starts at 10:00 am. in one of the rooms at CWI/WINS. Exceptionally, dates or times may change. The program of the meetings is available on WWW: http://www.cwi.nl/~pem _________________________________________________________________
