Sightseeing along the Road to Evolutionary Intelligence

In this talk, I will present a general notion of my long-term vision for various forms of Evolutionary Intelligence, being a mixture of evolutionary computation and machine learning. To support, convey, and illustrate this vision, I will present past, present, and future research in my group at CWI, often in collaboration with various other parties, as well as key research results obtained so far. This includes the fundamental research highway of the Gene-pool Optimal Mixing Evolutionary Algorithm (GOMEA) family, the GPU fast lane, off-ramps to machine learning and explainable AI, and various lookout points over real-world applications, especially in the medical domain, including the real-world adoption of some results, where patients today are treated using plans created with our algorithms.
